An Oak Hills man recently released from prison for driving under the influence was arrested Wednesday night for his fifth DUI after crashing head-on into a parked vehicle, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Hesperia station officials said.

Calvin Perry, 42, was arrested in the 13200 block of Sunland Street at about 9:30 p.m. after the collision, Sgt. John Mattke said. No one was hurt in the incident.

"As deputies were responding to the scene, we received calls that the driver was extremely under the influence and was trying to walk away from the collision," he said. "Bystanders were attempting to keep him at the scene until deputies arrived to detain him."

Through an investigation it was learned Perry had a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit, Mattke said. Officials also learned Perry had recently been released from prison for his fourth felony DUI conviction.

Perry was also driving on a revoked license and had no insurance on the vehicle he was driving which was registered to Perry, Mattke stated.

Perry was arrested and booked into Victor Valley Jail.

According to Mattke, this makes the second DUI arrest in as many days. On Tuesday night, an intoxicated driver sheared off a power pole in the area of Peach Avenue and Pacific Street, knocking out power to residents for almost eight hours, he said.

Officials are aware of the danger intoxicated drivers pose the public.

"They are a problem in the city and that's why we are taking focus on them," he said.
