Hesperia residents will still be able to alternate walking to raise money for cancer research and drool over classic cars this April, but will have to wait a few months to satisfy their barbecue cravings.

The annual Relay for Life Walk for the Cure event will take place on Sat., April 9 at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park. For 24 hours, cancer survivors and their supporters will do laps around the park's walkways to raise money for cancer research. The event begins at 10 a.m.

Another form of transportation will also be on display at the park, when the Over the Hill Gang holds a vintage and custom car show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

But unlike in previous years, event attendees won't be able to dig into barbecue at the same time. The fourth annual Golden State BBQ Championship will be pushed back until September.

"The barbecue will be moved to the Hesperia Days weekend and will be located at Hesperia Lake," Brandon McAnulty, Recreation Supervisor for the Hesperia Recreation and Park District, said Wednesday. "With the new county and police buildings on Smoketree [Street], we just ran out of room."
