Authorities located a missing Hesperia teen early Wednesday morning safe at her uncle's home in Apple Valley, according to officials.

Jessie Bender, 13, was found at about 6:30 a.m. after going missing for eight days, San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials said.

It's still unclear why the Cedar Middle School student ran away, but officials said they are still investigating the case. Some close to the family said a trip planned to Pakistan may have been behind the teen's disappearance, but her mother, Melissa Bender denies that.

"She didn't really want to go but she was fine with it," Melissa Bender said. "I really don't think the trip played a role in her leaving. She was actually excited to go shopping for the trip. I even asked her friends and they said she wasn't upset about going so I really don't think that was the reason."

Jessie went missing from her Hesperia home in the early morning hours of Feb. 22, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Hesperia station investigators. According to the girl's mother, they were scheduled to leave for Pakistan on Feb. 23 for eight weeks.
