Hesperia Recreation and Park District General Manager Cal Camara will retire in June, after 25 years on the job.

The park district announced the retirement Thursday afternoon, saying that he would pursue "other interests" after his departure this summer.

When Camara first came on board, the district's facilities consisted of Lime Street Park, Live Oak Park and Timberlane Park. When he leaves, the district will consist of 18 different sites, including Hesperia Lake Park.

Camara will be succeeded on July 1 by Lindsay Woods, who has served as the Administrative Operations Manager for the district for 10 years.

The Hesperia Recreation and Park District is the oldest government agency in Hesperia, predating both the Hesperia Unified School District and city of Hesperia. It was founded in 1957.
