Probably for the last time in many of their careers, apples were presented to 39 Hesperia Unified teachers and staffers on Monday.

The golden apple trophies are the traditional gift given to retirees of the Hesperia Unified School District, which held a ceremony to honor the retirement Class of 2011 Monday night.

"Henry Ford once said you don't build a reputation on what you're going to do," school board president Chris Bentley told the more than 150 people assembled at the district's annex building. "Thank you very much for the reputations that each and every one of you earned over a very long career."
