County officials are warning Victor Valley residents to brace for flooding this weekend.

The National Weather Service has predicting sometimes-heavy rain for the area from Thursday through Sunday. The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works is specifically warning residents in or below areas affected by October's Lake Arrowhead fire to be aware of and prepare for the possibility of flooding.

Residents are advised to avoid flood control debris basins and channels, which can sweep people away with a surge of water run-off, mud or debris. Even when rain has stopped, these areas remain danger, according to the Department of Public Works, as mud and debris may look like stable soil, but trap the unwary.
