San Joaquin Valley College in Hesperia is adding a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, or HVAC-R, program to its technology program line-up beginning Oct. 17.
"Students have been inquiring about this type of career training since we first opened our doors two years ago," Melanie Blackwell, Hesperia campus director, said. "San Joaquin Valley College is happy to finally offer this program to them, and one which also fits the needs of employers in our area."
San Joaquin Valley College is a private junior college with 11 California campuses. The Hesperia campus, which opened in 2009, offers seven other medical, business and technology programs, with the opportunity to earn certificates or associate's of science degrees.
The HVAC-R program will teach students about the operation, maintenance and repair of residential and commercial equipment. Graduates earn an associate's degree along with EPA Certification, HVAC Excellence and Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute certification.
Classes will be offered Monday through Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 10:15 p.m., with an 18-seat capacity.
