HESPERIA The owner of a marijuana dispensary is behind bars after he shot at a burglar through the door of his business, shooting out the windows of neighboring shops early Wednesday morning, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Hesperia station officials.

Dennis Rosales, 29, was arrested for willful discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. Rosales was released on bail.

According to reports, Rosales had experienced several attempted break-ins to his business in the 12000 block of Jacaranda Street over the past few weeks. He decided to fire the security guards, according to Sgt. Linzy Savage, and was staying inside the building along with a friend to protect the dispensary.

At about 2:30 a.m., Savage said, deputies received a call from the dispensary stating someone was outside trying to break in. The burglar was using a large piece of wood to try to break the surveillance cameras outside the business.

Rosales fired a shotgun three times through the door of his business in an attempt to scare the unidentified burglar away, Savage said. The burglar did run off, but the errant shots blew out the windows and caused damage to neighboring shops as well as his own, he said.

Deputies arrived and arrested Rosales. No one was hurt and the would-be burglar was not located.
