HESPERIA Hundreds of golf balls will drop from the sky and someone will win a $20,000 golf car as part of a charity event to support a local group that assists children and teens dealing with a loss.

The Mourning Star Center with assistance from The Visiting Nurse Association Community Outreach program will be raffling off a golf car on Feb. 29 at the Classic Club in Palm Desert. Organizers will be selling 500 tickets for $100 each.

Each ticket will be represented by a golf ball, which will then be dropped from a helicopter over the club's No. 10 hole. A hole-in-one or whoever gets the closest to the hole wins the car, according to a release.

The raffle will benefit the Mourning Star Center, to help send local children to a grief camp next summer. For more information, call Kathleen McEntee at (760) 262-4080.
