In the spring, many residents' fancy turns to cleaning out their garage.

"To help with spring cleaning, we'll make disposing of those large items a little bit easier," Hesperia city spokeswoman Kelly Malloy said.

The city is holding one of their twice-yearly free clean-up days on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to noon at Advance Disposal on Mesa Street.

Bulky items, including furniture and mattresses can be dropped off, but electronic items and construction materials like concrete, loose dirt and rock may not.

"We ask that residents enter from Santa Fe (Avenue) to keep traffic moving smoothly," Malloy said.

Simultaneously, the city will be hosting a tire amnesty event across the street from Advance Disposal, where residents but not commercial dealers can drop off up to nine rimless tires for free.

Senior citizens and the disabled can schedule curbside pickup for non-tire items by calling (760) 947-1225. Call before 3 p.m. Thursday to schedule a pick-up.

Advance Disposal is located at 17105 Mesa Street. For more information, call (760) 947-1000.
