On Friday, May 4, chicken will be brain food, when the annual Chick-fil-A Leadercast allows Hesperia participants to hear from nationally known speakers about becoming better leaders in their communities.
This is the second year the Hesperia Chamber of Commerce has participated in the event, which will include insight from figures such as CNN's Soledad O'Brien and NFL star Tim Tebow.
Before last year's event, Yvonne Woytovich, president and CEO of the Hesperia Chamber of Commerce, was skeptical about its value.
"I thought, 'Oh, Chick-fil-A,' because there's not one up here. But then I started reading more about it," she said.
What came out of a conversation between S. Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-A, and author John Maxwell was the Chick-fil-A Leadercast, a nationally televised conference that brings together business leaders, inspirational speakers and more.
This year's Leadercast is specifically about "the choices we make and the impact that choices make have," Woytovich said.
"This is not aimed toward business," she said. "This is aimed toward everyone."
In addition to presentations by national speakers, the Leadercast will include local activities and a Chick-fil-A lunch.
"Leadership is so broad," chamber member Debbie Cannon said. "It's an action-packed day."
The Chick-fil-A Leadercast will take place 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday May 4 in the Terrace Room of Foremost Healthcare, 17581 Sultana St. Tickets are $110 for Hesperia Chamber of Commerce members, $125 for non-members or $840 for a table of eight for chamber members or $960 for non-members. The chamber is also offering scholarships to 10 or more local high school and college students to attend the event.
