VICTORVILLE • Two Hesperia men were each sentenced to 15 years in state prison for robbing the Smart & Final at gunpoint.
Judge Lorenzo Balderrama sentenced Francisco Javier Rodriguez Jr., 22, on Monday after the defendant accepted the prosecution's offer in April and pleaded guilty to one count of robbery.
His co-defendant, Moses Ruben Gonzales, was sentenced in April after he pleaded no contest to robbery.
According to San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials, Rodriguez ran into the Smart & Final on Bear Valley Road on Sept. 20 wearing a mask and black clothing. He demanded money from an employee, who complied. Rodriguez ran out and jumped into a waiting van driven by Gonzales.
Bettina Stephanie Rodriguez, Francisco Rodriguez's wife, went to the home of Gonzales' wife and attacked and threatened to kill her if she implicated Francisco Rodriguez in the armed robbery, according to sheriff's officials. Bettina Rodriguez pleaded no contest to making criminal threats and was sentenced to 180 days in jail.
