HESPERIA • More than 4,000 Hesperians were in the dark after a Southern California Edison outage hit the city Monday morning.
Edison officials said a bird damaged a transformer, which in turn damaged an underground cable. That cut the power to 4,070 customers at 8:42 a.m. and turned off the traffic lights at the intersections of Main Street and G, I and Peach avenues.
Power was almost totally restored as of 1:30 p.m., with only one home, two businesses and the traffic light at Main Street and G Avenue still out. SCE officials expected service to be fully restored by midnight.
