A federal grant of nearly $5 million will go to expand the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health Center in Hesperia, according to a county press release.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration granted $4,897,415 to the expansion. The expansion will include six additional examination rooms, an ADA-compliant special procedures room, five nursing triage bays, radiology capabilities, dental services, and expansion of the existing on-site laboratory, a mental health consultation room, conference room, classroom space and additional equipment.

In total, the center will expand by about 5,800 square feet.

Once the expansion is completed, the Hesperia Health Center will provide an array of primary care, mental health, and dental services. County residents will be able to access a range of health care services including health screenings, referral services, management of acute and chronic diseases and preventive health education.
