Kern Hesperia Mortuary and the non-profit Cell Phones for Soldiers are looking for "gently used" cell phones.
Donated phones will be sent to Michigan-based ReCellular for recycling. For every donated phone worth at least $5, Cell Phones for Soldiers is able to provide 2.5 hours of free talk time to deployed troops.
Through recycled cell phones and cash donations, organization has raised more than $7 million, collected more than 8.3 million phones and provided overseas troops with more than 114 million minutes of free talk time to call home.
Phones can be dropped off at Kern Hesperia Mortuary, 16120 Main St., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., from Monday through Friday.
