VICTORVILLE • Two men who broke into several classrooms at Hesperia High School agreed to plea bargains in Victorville Superior Court and were each sentenced to three years of probation.
Gilbert Soto, 18, and Mark DeLeon, 19, withdrew their pleas of not guilty and instead pleaded no contest to charges of burglary and vandalism under $400.
The two men were also sentenced Friday to 270 days in San Bernardino County jail, but because they have already served most of that sentencing, they will each spend nine days in jail.
Soto, DeLeon and three juveniles broke into three classrooms at the high school in April and tried to make off with several stolen items, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Hesperia station officials said.
After a teacher present at Hesperia High School alerted deputies of the break-in, the sheriff's helicopter crew and deputies found four of the five burglars, according to a release. The fifth person later turned themselves in to the Hesperia station.
All of the stolen property was recovered.
