HESPERIA • By this spring, High Desert foodies will be dining on burgers and fries from one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the country.
"We should be opening the doors to Five Guys by mid-March," said Molly Catalano, director of communications for the Virginia-based restaurant. "Everyone loves hamburgers, and we are excited about bringing our burgers and fries to the High Desert."
With locations in the U.S. and Canada, the Hesperia location at the High Desert Gateway shopping center will be one of 75 units in California.
"With the Hesperia location, the franchise owner will operate a total of 10 in Riverside and San Bernardino counties," Catalano said.
Five Guys was birthed in 1986 when Jerry and Janie Murrell told their four sons to "start a business or go to college."
After a huge cult-like following on the East Coast, similar to In-N-Out Burger, Five Guys grew from eight stores in 2002 to 1,107 locations.
Five Guys, which does not use freezers, boasts of being able to fix a burger 250,000 different ways, according to the company website.
"Our secret to success is actually no secret at all," Catalano said. "We simply focus on high-quality food and service, and we pay attention to details."
The Five Guys will be at 12795 Main St. For more information, go to www.fiveguys.com.
