With responsible fiscal management an ever growing demand on public agencies everywhere, the Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority has received the Distinguished Budget Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, according to a recent press release.
It is the third financial honor received by VVWRA in the past three years as the agency continues to aim high in financial transparency. The agency had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation that assesses how well the budget serves as: a policy document; a financial plan; an operation guide; and a communications device.
"The feats our finance team has accomplished over the past several years are second to none," Logan Olds, VVWRA General Manager, said in a press release. "I couldn't be more proud of our staff and their dedication to financial transparency."
The GFOA, which serves more than 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America, has recognized the agency for its two Comprehensive Annual Financial Reviews over the past two years.
"It's great to see management put such an emphasis on good governing practices," VVWRA spokesman Ryan Orr said, "especially when finances are so tight in many agencies both public and private."
