Suzanne de Board has published seven books in one year and readers of all ages can purchase those books, hear excerpts and ask questions Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hesperia Library.

"I love writing, I love kids, I love people I wanted to get these out," de Board said.

"Almost everyone I know, as a kid they've been picked on in their lives or bullied in some way at some point or another," de Board said, referring to her encouraging book, "Bumble Frog," with a character who's different and overcomes. In "Maya Bay of the Dolphin," the character copes with a loved one's death. Both are de Board's newest books for reader's ages 7 to 10.

Also available are three of her five-book series "The Gift," including "The Gift," "Merlin's Revenge" and "The Revealing," as well as "Pen Pearls" and "Sarah Jane."

"Once we got started, we just couldn't seem to quit," she said. A member of the High Desert California Writers Club, de Board's books went through critique groups before publication.

Reader response is positive.

"They just love them, rave about them, no matter how old they are whether in fourth grade, 40, 60 or 80 they just love the books," said de Board, who is a guest teacher for the Hesperia Unified School District.

"At elementary schools where her books are present, they can't get enough books to meet the amount of kids that want to read them," husband Willard Brumbaugh said.

De Board's books can be purchased online at www.PenPearls.com or from www.Amazon.com. She'll also be at Barnes & Noble in the Mall of Victor Valley from 3 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 1 with Mission Crest Elementary School's book fair.
