Hesperia resident Jessica Frericks was recently selected to participate in the 2014 Miss Jr. Teen San Bernardino/Pasadena pageant competition set to take place on March 30.

Frericks learned of her acceptance into this year's competition when the pageant announced their selections following interviewing in the local San Bernardino/Pasadena area.

Frericks will be competing for her share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. The Miss Jr. Teen division is one of four divisions that will have young ladies between the ages of 7 and 19 competing in modeling routines, which include casual and formal wear, according to a news release. Frericks will also display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with this year's judging panel.

Personality is the No. 1 aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition, the release states.

The winner of the Miss Jr. Teen title will represent San Bernardino/Pasadena and the surrounding communities at the National Competition that will take place in Orlando, Fla. More than $30,000 in prizes and awards will be presented at the National Competition while each winner will receive the expenses-paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando.
