St. Mary High Desert Medical Group last week announced it was added optometry as a new specialty and welcomed Dr. Frank Inouye to the group, according to a news release.

Inouye's addition increases the number of physicians practicing with the medical group to more than 40, the release states.

Inouye attended optometry school at Illinois School of Optometry and has been serving the High Desert community, in private practice for more than 20 years. Dr. Inouye will relocate his practice to 17059 Main St. in Hesperia.

"The addition of Dr. Inouye to St. Mary High Desert Medical Group will provide residents within the High Desert community with more choices when selecting a specialist for their eye care needs," said Ziad El-Hajjaoui, medical director for St. Mary High Desert Medical Group. "Dr. Inouye's commitment to providing expert eye care to the high desert community represents the quality and compassion that SMHDMG is known for and that patients have come to love."
