An afternoon of free family fun on May 3 will highlight the importance of health and safety for people of all ages. Also, winners of the city's 25th anniversary photo and poetry contests will be revealed.

The city's annual Health and Safety Fair will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at Civic Plaza Park, 15833 Smoke Tree St.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about serious health and safety issues, such as water safety for children, CPR basics and the dangers associated with leaving children and pets in vehicles.

Also, the event aims to familiarize parents and children with safety personnel, procedures and equipment. Police vehicles and fire trucks will be on display and there will be demonstrations from Southern California Edison and local health care providers.

The winners of the city's 25th anniversary photo and poetry contests will be announced at noon in the park's amphitheater. Winning submissions will be placed into the 25th Anniversary Time Capsule, which is planned to be opened during the city's 50th anniversary celebration in 2038.
