Six-foot, 2-inch, 230-pound Hesperia defensive tackle Galvin Emesibe has verbally committed to play football for UC Davis.

The straight-A student will receive a full-ride scholarship. Emesibe, still only 16, plans to redshirt his freshman year.

He expects to sign a letter of intent on National Signing Day, Feb. 4.

A final 70-9 rout over Barstow put a dramatic finish on a stellar dual meet season for Sultana's wrestling team on Wednesday.

Ten of Sultana's 17 seniors wrestled in matches, with eight winning.

The Sultana wrestlers were a perfect 21-0 this season.

A well-rounded offensive attack led the Hesperia Scorpions over the Apple Valley Sun Devils last Thursday, 52-42. The win took the Scorpions to 4-0 in league play.

Although A.J. Mathis was kept to only 10 points, the Hesperia star brought down 12 rebounds, and six teammates scored.
