High school seniors can now apply for the Elks National Foundation Scholarships for the 2011-12 school year, according to Jack Holt, exalter ruler at the Hesperia Elks Lodge 2646.

The "Most Valuable Student Contest" is for students going on to college. Applications may be obtained on-line at www.elks.org/enf/scholars or from high school counselors.

The "Legacy Awards" are for college-bound children and grandchildren of active Elks. Legacy Applications are handled online only at www.elks.org/enf/scholars.

The California "Vocational Grant Program" is for non-college-bound students. Applications are available from counselors or online at www.chea-elks.org/scholarshipmenu.html. All Vocational Applications have very short deadlines.

Elks Secretary Richard Garcia also has applications available at the lodge, 9202 E Avenue.

Any student with questions may contact Scholarship Chairman Bill Alves at (760) 244-0910 or the lodge at (760) 949-2646.
