'Blooms for a Cure' begins next week
Acacia's Country Florist owner Jane Wolf and Linda Canfield, "Educators for a Cure" team captain for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, have partnered to once again present "Blooms for a Cure."
This event will promote the sale of daffodil flowers during the week of March 11 to 16 with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. The bright yellow daffodils are the first flower of spring and also the official flower of hope for the American Cancer Society.

Cosmetology students to host 'Cuts & Cuticles for a Cure'
On Thursday, and again on March 14, Hesperia's R.O.P./Adult Cosmetology students will host the fourth annual "Cuts & Cuticles for a Cure" from 1 to 7 p.m. Students will provide haircuts for $3 and up, manicures for $5 and pedicures for $7 (cash only) with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event.
Cuts & Cuticles for a Cure will be held at the After Image Salon at the Hesperia Alternative Ed Center, 15627 Lemon St. For more information or to make an appointment, call (760) 244-1771, ext. 134. Walk-ins are welcome.
Relay for Life is a 24-hour walking event, involving teams supporting the American Cancer Society's mission to educate, fund raise for research and fight back against cancer. The Hesperia event will be held April 20 and 21 at the Hesperia Civic Center beginning at 10 a.m. and feature an opening ceremony lap celebrating survivors and caretakers. A luminaria ceremony will take place at 9 p.m. April 20.
