  • APPLE VALLEY — A 17-year-old boy was stabbed just after 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Kiowa and Bear Valley roads.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Trish Hill said the boy was a sign spinner promoting a local business when he was approached by Irvin Davila, 26. Davila told the sign spinner he thought the boy was trying to kill him, officials said.
Davila brandished a steak knife and stabbed the boy multiple times in the face and side of the head. The boy ran to a business, where the owner called 911.
Hill said the boy’s injuries were not life-threatening. He received stitches and was released from the hospital just after 11:15 a.m.
Davila was arrested a couple of blocks away from the scene of the stabbing within minutes of deputies arriving.
“(Davila) said, ‘Oh yeah, he was trying to kill me, so I stabbed him.’ Very matter-of-factly,” Hill said. “He willingly got into the patrol car.”
Davila was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder, officials said.
