  • APPLE VALLEY — A compilation video of the June 25 attempted arrest and shooting of a murder suspect by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies has been published online.
Independent investigative journalist Neil Radimaker, who works out of Las Vegas and has a home in Apple Valley, released the compilation of surveillance and witness videos Monday.
Also Monday, witness Arsenio Alcantar met with reporters to offer additional information about the incident that occurred near his recycling business at the intersection of Bear Valley and Central roads. He said three cars had been struck by gunfire and a truck was damaged by a deputy’s vehicle.
Jenny Nassar, owner of adjacent business Jenny the Barber, said her husband’s Honda Accord was one of those struck.
“Why didn’t they think of public safety?” she said.
James Jaimez, wanted in connection to a Montebello murder, was shot by deputies after an attempted arrest, authorities said. He also was identified by sheriff’s officials as an AB 109 probationer.
“I’m glad they got somebody like that off the streets,” Nassar said, “but the way they did it ...”
In a statement released last week, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said Jaimez pointed a gun at LASD deputies and attempted to carjack an undercover detective. The video compilation does not show those events, but there are portions of the video where Jaimez’s actions cannot be seen.
The Creative Commons 4.0-licensed video contains violence and one instance of foul language.
