    Man dead after shooting near Hesperia

  • HESPERIA — San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said Tuesday that detectives are investigating the death of a 48-year-old Hesperia man who was apparently shot in a domestic dispute Monday morning.
    Sheriff’s officials said deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 9800 block of Nielson Road, south of Phelan Road between Baldy Mesa Road and Verbena Road, in an unincorporated area near Hesperia just before 10:30 a.m.
    Upon arrival, deputies and fire personnel located Donald Archdale, 48, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
    Archdale was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:07 p.m.
    The Sheriff’s Homicide Detail was requested and responded to the location. Through investigation, detectives determined that Archdale was shot during a domestic violence incident.
    The investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been arrested at this time. Upon completion, the detectives’ report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s office for review.
