  • The Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority has been awarded an additional $4 million federal grant toward its planned Subregional Water Recycling Plants in Apple Valley and Hesperia, the agency announced Monday.
Expected to be completed in 2016, the $50 million subregional plants will “help alleviate the stress that the on-going drought has caused the region by each providing one million gallons per day of recycled water to irrigate community parks, schools and golf courses,” spokeswoman Kate Beyer said in a written statement.
The facilities will also help to provide enough water to offset the water use of 10,000 people each day in Apple Valley and Hesperia, Beyer said.
So far, the agency has secured $12 million in grant money for the projects, she said.
