  • HESPERIA • San Bernardino County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a man on Thursday afternoon.
Just before 2 p.m., Hesperia deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Seventh Avenue and Mesa Street. A man said he had been shot and left along the roadway, according to a sheriff’s news release.
When deputies arrived, they found that friends of the victim had subsequently picked him up and were planning to take him to a hospital.
“The victim refused to answer questions, was uncooperative with deputies and at this time it is unknown if he shot himself or if there are suspects outstanding,” the news release states.
San Bernardino County Fire paramedics took the man to a local hospital, and he was then flown to a trauma center for further treatment. His condition was unknown Thursday evening.
Detectives interviewed the victim’s friends at the Hesperia Station. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Hesperia Deputies Derek Stokes or Zane Jansky at 760-947-1500. Citizens can also contact WeTip at 800-78-CRIME or www.wetip.com.
