BARSTOW — Two children are in Department of Child Services’ custody after Barstow police arrested their mother on suspicion of child endangerment and neglect.
Virginia Corine Villa was arrested Tuesday after Barstow police conducted follow-up investigation at a home on the 1100 block of Elizabeth Street, Lt. Mike Hunter said.
Villa, 28, pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor cruelty or endangerment of a child and misdemeanor possession of controlled substance paraphernalia in a Victorville courtroom Thursday, court records show. She is scheduled to appear for pre-trial Aug. 28, court records show.
Hunter said police arrested Villa after finding the minor children living in deplorable and unhealthy living conditions. The children were released to DCS.
She is currently being held at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $25,000 bail, booking and court records show.
