  • DEVORE — A brief but full freeway closure is scheduled from 11:59 p.m. Friday until 1:01 a.m. Saturday on southbound Interstate 15 at Kenwood Avenue, Caltrans says.
The designated detour is to exit southbound I-15 at Kenwood and re-enter using the southbound I-15 Kenwood on-ramp.
However, a two-month daytime and nighttime closure of the southbound I-15 Kenwood on-ramp will begin Saturday as part of ongoing construction in the Devore Interchange Project.
Several other connector, ramp, lane and surface-street closures are scheduled in the area through Saturday or longer, mostly overnight. Some will require detours.
Motorists are reminded that the third of five 65-hour weekend lane reductions for work on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass, dubbed the “Cajon Crawl,” is scheduled for Friday night.
The northbound lane closures on the right shoulder will start at 10 p.m. Fridays and end at 3 p.m. the following Monday. The closures continue this weekend and are scheduled to resume Sept. 5 and 12. Labor Day weekend will be skipped.
Caltrans advises motorists to expect lengthy delays, use alternate routes, adjust travel times or rideshare to help reduce traffic impacts and delays.
Lane reductions to three or two northbound lanes will allow for about a mile of paving each weekend, moving consecutively uphill from Highway 138 to Oak Hill Road.
While in the pass, watch for messages on Caltrans’ mobile sign displays.
