VICTORVILLE — Court records show a Duarte man refused his Wednesday arraignment for misdemeanor indecent exposure, battery and drug charges after he allegedly exposed himself to deputies who were investigating a possible rape.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ken Lutz said deputies arrested Victor Cass, 38, at the Sunset Inn in the 15700 block of Mojave Drive at about 2:30 a.m. Monday.
Lutz said deputies were talking to guests at the hotel when a 17-year-old girl walked by the deputies.
“She was in a hurry and looked like something was wrong,” Lutz said. “She was emotionally upset and confused.”
As deputies attempted to talk to the girl, Lutz said, they were approached by Cass, who “through his actions appeared to be under the influence.” He said Cass then proceeded to pull out his genitalia and show deputies.
Lutz said deputies were able to calm the girl, and she told them Cass picked her up downtown and promised her a ride out of the city. They ended up at the hotel, and she claimed she was sexually abused, Lutz reported.
Cass was booked into custody on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Deputies also booked him on suspicion of unlawful sex with a minor, but the District Attorney’s office had not charged him with that offense as of Wednesday afternoon, according to court records.
Court records show Cass was charged with misdemeanor indecent exposure, battery, resisting a peace officer, possessing a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
He refused arraignment on Wednesday afternoon and is being held at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on $200,000 bail.
