  • Paving project scheduled for Ranchero Road
    HESPERIA — Ranchero Road between Escondido Street and the Interstate 15 Ranchero Road Interchange Project will have lane closures from Sept. 8 through Sept. 26 for a paving project.
    Overlay work is scheduled for that portion of Ranchero Road to include grinding of the existing pavement, chip sealing, paving, shoulder backing and striping.
    Traffic will be reduced to one lane during the course of the project. Delays are to be expected; motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
    Retrofitting planned for Ranchero Road aqueduct bridge
    HESPERIA — The California Department of Water Resources has scheduled a road closure on Ranchero Road from Cottonwood to Seventh avenues to allow for the seismic retrofitting of the bridge over the aqueduct.
    The project is scheduled to begin Sept. 15 and will take approximately seven weeks to complete.
    A detour route around the construction zone will be posted. Motorists are advised to obey all posted traffic signs. Delays are to be expected and the area should be avoided when possible.
    Highways 2 and 138 to get road work
    WRIGHTWOOD — Parts of Highways 2 and 138 in the Wrightwood and Pinon Hills areas will get some nighttime road surfacing starting Tuesday night and lasting for up to eight weeks.
    This week, the work on both highways will start at 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday nights. It will last until 6 a.m. the following day on Highway 2 and until 5 a.m. the following day on Highway 138.
    Caltrans is spending $5.5 million on this project.
    Flaggers will control traffic in the work areas.
