Baby's death investigated

Detectives are investigating the death of a 6-week-old Hesperia boy over the weekend, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said.

Authorities received a 911 call at about 1 a.m. on Sunday about a child not breathing in the 12000 block of Oakwood Avenue, according to a press release.

When rescuers arrived they found the child’s father performing CPR on the infant, officials said. The child was taken to Desert Valley Medical Center, where he later died.

Although it’s standard for the Homicide Detail to investigate the unanticipated death of children, homicide and Crimes Against Children were called to investigate due to some unusual circumstances, according to officials.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Detective Michael Smith or Sgt. Don Lupear at (909) 387-3589 or call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
