Hesperia businesswoman pleads guilty to filing false tax information

A Hesperia businesswoman pleaded guilty to filing false tax information and is facing three years in prison, according to IRS Criminal Investigation officials.

Yun Jung Han, owner of the Bear Valley Car Wash located on Bear Valley Road, filed false forms reporting $669,418 between 2005 and 2006 tax years when she had taken in much more although the exact amount was not disclosed, officials said.

“She specifically skimmed off the cash receipts,” Assistant United States Attorney Robert Conte said.

Han pleaded guilty on Monday in United States District Court in Los Angeles after reaching a plea agreement.

According to IRS investigators, Han diverted some of the money generated by the business into a separate bank account and did not disclose it. Officials concluded she had been diverting funds for 2005 and 2006.

No comment was made if she had done this with any of her other businesses, Conte said.

“There is a large temptations to skim some of the cash away. When we are out there doing tax enforcement we take a close look at these cash businesses,” Conte said.

Han, who lives in Cerritos, is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb, 22, 2010 and is facing a three-year prison sentence and one year supervised release.
