In the year in review article published in the Dec. 27, 2011 edition of the Hesperia Star, it was incorrectly reported that the city of Hesperia paid a "ransom" to the state of California to keep the Hesperia Recreation and Park District from being shut down. The money was paid to keep the Hesperia Redevelopment Agency in operation.

The Star regrets the error.
