Hesperia man arrested for killing roommate
HESPERIA • Deputies found a Hesperia man dead in his home Sunday night and arrested his roommate for his murder, sheriff's officials said Monday.
Raymond Ovalle, 43, was found on the floor of his home in the 17900 block of Birch Street at 8:41 p.m. during a welfare check, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said in a release.
Ovalle suffered upper body trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. Homicide investigators and coroner’s officials were called.
After investigation, Ovalle’s roommate, Jason Robert Miranda, 43, was arrested on suspicion of murder Sunday night in the 17900 block of Redding Street in Hesperia.
Miranda was booked into West Valley Detention Center and is being held without bail, officials said. He is scheduled to be in court Tuesday for the murder charge.
He was also scheduled Monday for a failure-to-appear warrant for suspicion of driving without a valid license, according to jail records. Miranda has a slew of unresolved vehicle code violations dating back to 1999 but no other infractions in San Bernardino County, court records show.
The motive for Ovalle’s suspected murder is under investigation and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
A man who was parked near Ovalle’s home Monday afternoon and identified himself as the victim’s brother declined to speak with the Daily Press.
