In the Jan. 24 edition of the Hesperia Star, it incorrectly stated that Hesperia Unified school board president Chris Bentley decided on all the motions presented on the first day of HUSD police chief Mike Graham’s termination hearing. During closed session, Bentley said he did not decide on the motions presented by Graham’s lawyer that he be recused from deciding on Graham’s fate and that he serve as a witness in the case. Bentley said he recused himself from those decisions, which were made instead by school board vice-president Eric Swanson.

Further, the final decision will not rest with Bentley, as was stated in the article. Graham’s fate, instead, will be a vote of the entire five-person school board.

In the crime map in the Jan. 17 edition of the Hesperia Star, it stated that a fire in the 15000 block of Willow Street was a result of arson. After an investigation, it was determined the blaze was the result of an accident in the home, according to Tracey Martinez, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
