HESPERIA — With summer approaching and many excited and dying to catch the latest blockbuster hit, the Hesperia Recreation and Park has already kicked off its 15th annual Movies in the Park series.
Sponsored by Desert Valley Medical Group, a series of seven movies will be shown every other weekend at Civic Plaza Park, 15833 Smoke Tree St., Hesperia. Residents can watch popular children and family friendly films under the stars and enjoy spending time outdoors through September.
“This is an annual event we have been offering since 2007,” said Senior Recreation Coordinator Sarah Hauser. “It’s an opportunity for the Hesperia residents to come together and enjoy a free family friendly event at the park.”
If you’re planning to bring the family out to watch a movie, this is the perfect opportunity to pack a picnic, bring some blankets or lawn chairs, put on your PJs and get as comfy as possible while hunkering down at this community event.
The following movies will be screened this summer, with the movies set to begin at dusk. Each film that will be screened will either have PG or PG-13 rating and parents are advised to consider what movies are appropriate for younger children to watch.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” rated PG-13, June 25
“Minions,” rated PG, July 9
“Cinderella,” rated PG, July 23
“Ant-Man,” rated PG-13, Aug. 6
“Inside Out,” rated PG, Aug. 20
“Zootopia,” rated PG, Sept. 10
“This is a popular venue and we suggest patrons arrive early to save a seat. We will also have food vendors out there so patrons can enjoy a snack before and during the movie,” Hauser said.
