In an attempt to bring the community together, Holy Family Catholic Church hosted their 21st Usher’s Ministry Annual Barbecue Dinner on Saturday.

Those who attended the all-day affair were able to chow down on pulled beef, barbecued watermelon, ribs and many more scrumptious treats.

The church holds the barbecue every year in hopes of raising money for the church and uniting the community.

According to James Janrhett, Head Minister of the Usher Society, non-church members were encouraged to attend the event. With 10,000 members and growing, Holy Family is the “biggest catholic church in the high desert,” Janrhett said, “(and) we don’t turn nobody away.”

Janrhett told the Hesperia Star that funds that were made on Saturday would go straight back into the church. Admission for the barbecue was $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

The church is located at Parish Hall at 9974 I Ave.
