HESPERIA - A 60-year-old man was put behind bars Monday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child, authorities said.
William Casey, of Hesperia, was arrested on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 after Hesperia Sheriff's Station deputies responded to a report of a sex crime with a juvenile early Monday, according to a Tuesday news release.
Investigators found that the victim had been left in Casey's care on several different occasions. The victim's mother immediately contacted authorities when she learned of the alleged assault, officials said.
Casey was arrested early Monday at the Hesperia Sheriff's Station and was booked into the High Desert Detention Center. He was released on $250,000 bail early Tuesday, booking records show, and currently does not have a scheduled court appearance.
Officials said investigators do not believe there are other victims at this time, but the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Hesperia Sheriff's Station at 760-947-1500.
