HESPERIA — As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, the Hesperia Recreation and Park District will kick off its inaugural Hot August Nights live summer concert series on Aug.4 with a performance from Live From Earth — a Pat Benatar tribute band.
Music lovers are invited to come enjoy a different tribute band every Friday throughout August at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park. This concert series has been in the works since January.
Tribute bands ranging from Creedence Clearwater Revival to Keith Urban are scheduled to perform Fridays at 7 p.m. The district’s plan is to have local bands perform as openers around 6 p.m.
“Concert goers can expect great music,” Hesperia Recreation and Park District General Manager Lindsay Woods said. “The district is working with Kevin O’Neal Sound Labs and Groovelabs to bring a high-quality musical experience to our residents.”
Matchbox Twenty Too guitarist Eric Schink says they try very hard to sound as close as possible to Matchbox Twenty with their guitar sound and vocals.
“We’ve played some large venues. The music is high quality,” Schink said.
Urban Skies lead singer John Broderson says he can’t wait to bring the Keith Urban experience to Hesperia.
“We’re totally excited,” Broderson said.
The Rotary Club of the High Desert will be hosting a beer garden and there will be a variety of vendors on site.
“The series is a free event that offers a great place to go each Friday during August to hear great music and spend time with your family and friends,” Woods said.
He says events like the summer concert series builds a stronger community in Hesperia and throughout the Victor Valley.
