Marjorie Bakker passes away

Marjorie Alice Bakker, 77, passed away March 13, 2008. She was a 50-year resident of Hesperia. Marjorie was born April 26, 1930, in Colton and grew up in nearby Grand Terrace.

She was a librarian for the San Bernardino County Library for 21 years, a job she greatly enjoyed. Marjorie was a very active member of the community for most of her life. She enjoyed teaching a variety of handicrafts through the Hesperia Recreation and Park District. She belonged to the Federated Women's Club. She was also a Girl Scout troop leader for many years, taking her girls on many outings and teaching them outdoor skills.

Marjorie enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, sewing, weaving and the outdoors. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched over the years.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Percy Bakker; son, Rick Bakker; daughters Gail Bakker (Husk), and Karen Bakker; granddaughters, Jeanette Frederickson and Kimberlie Trent; and great-grandchildren Joseph Ferrera, Natalie, William and Alyssa Trent.

Cremation is being handled by Kern Memorial, Hesperia.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. April 25 at Hesperia Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hesperia Friends of the Library. Contact Andrea Parsons through the library at 244-4898.
