Kirk named school board president
Lee Rogers named school board vice-president
Since their election in 2006, instantly becoming the controlling majority on the Hesperia Unified School District school board, Hardy Black, Robert Kirk and Lee Rogers, have run the board. Monday night, they made it official.
At the last school board meeting of the year, Robert Kirk was named board president for 2008, Rogers was made board vice-president and Black was named board clerk. Each will serve a one-year term.
The titles carry no extra power on the board, but put Kirk in the role of running the meetings, with Rogers stepping in if he's unavailable. Each decision was made with a 3-2 vote, with board members Bruce Minton and Helen Rogers dissenting.
The next school board meeting will be held January 14, 2008, at the HUSD Administration & Educational Support Center, 15576 Main Street, starting at 6 p.m.
Beau Yarbrough can be reached at 956-7108 or at beau@hesperiastar.com.

I'm back, but i'm not ChrisB. Since nobody else is going to point out the obvious, i will. Assume all 3 hated board members ARE recalled, we will need to have replacements to vote into office. I suggested the recall crowd put up a set of candidates that they would propose to have run for the open slots and recieved the traditional "you must be in bed with kirk" response. The fact of the matter is, the motive for the recall may lay with the intended replacements. If we are expected to believe that the three are evil and we have been tricked, how are we to trust that the replacements won't simply be 'puppets' of the recall crowd and their cinnamon bun lady leader. I do not intend this posting to be an endorsement of the current board, I just think that something as big as a recall warrants a little fore thought as to who the replacements will be.

It sounds like the teachers on this blog have a real hatred for THIER union and are expressing it by attacking the board. If the union is supposed to represent and protect the teachers, why don't these teachers become involved in the union process and make sure they are heard. From what i understand historically, only half the teachers vote on union issues.

the cinnamon bun lady has been a parent volunteer in the community for about twenty years. She didn't get rich off her home grown business. She did get attacked because she ran for the school board and wouldn't take the endorsement of HTA. The board members think she's part of the recall and put her in their sights to eliminate her. Given her years of involvement with the school district, what they have done to her is a crime. I hope the recall is successful. People on this blog have complained about the hate they read. It's nothing compared to the hate spread by the union of this district.

Currious, I think it is the cinnamon "buns" lady and has to do with her relationship with former superintendents Bray and Richardson. They for some unknown reason let her sell pastries at schools for 8 years. This in defiance of health laws, ed. code, and Board Policy. Thousands of dollars were earned for the cinnamon buns lady when the money should have legally gone to the school student bodies or to the district's food services dept.

I am not familiar with the Cinnamon Bun lady controversy. Can someone please tell me what a Cinnamon Bun lady has to do with the HTA and the board?

Chris apparently knows how to erase negative comments about how the students and teachers of Hesperia lost their ExCEL grants because of him. I wonder if he also knows how to artificially inflate the poll against the recall. I still lay the loss of the cinnamon roll lady's at your doorstep Chris, however much help and support you got from the Kirks.

Chris did email me. He would like me to be more clear in my articles that the recall supporters have to collect signatures on three separate petitions, and not just one. As he says in his email, one cannot assume that everyone signing a petition will sign all THREE petitions, they may well like or dislike the targeted board members to varying degrees. I plan to include the point in my next petition related article.

Local business owners case has been made, the crucification has begun. I would like to ask ALL those who are reading and posting here NOT to attack the business owner who has identified herself. She has the right to refuse service as we have the right to not do business with her and i think that is were it should stop. The quality of her business is not the topic of the story we are commenting on and should be left off the table.

Why can't our three new board members be as quick as Mr. Yarbrough to acknowledge and correct their mistakes? That's the problem, they don't think they've made any.

Oh, Beau, you know Chris only operates in the land of innuendo. It was successful destroying the business of the Cinnamon Roll Lady, it was successful to prevent the students and teachers of Hesperia from getting their grants from ExCEL, so, heady with power he attempts to convince the town of statistics that he does not, could not have. Hope he doesn't run for office!

Chris, e-mail me your math on the numbers for the recall. I majored in English and Communications, and I could well have made a mistake. If so, I'll fix it ASAP.

I am Chris Bentley. When I write something, I sign my name to it or, in this ethically challenged cyber ruled space, provide a specific moniker which clearly identifies me. For those seeking to antagonize me into joining this rabble rouse session, I have only posted here with a mathematically reasoned position that Beau has the target number for recall signatures wrong. I still think so. I have written nothing else, nor will I until this joyous Christmas season is over. Merry Christmas to all, and that includes all who disagree on the recall issue too.

| I would argue real LBO that your sanctimonious diatribe only hurts the pro-recall movement. If you feel that you must resort to ad-hominem attacks on folks then have at it. For the record I am not part of any group. I say good luck to you realLBO. Peace on Earth Good Will Toward Men.
Have at it. |

It will probably be of little use to try to reason with hesperiavoter, but, for effect, here goes. I have known many people who operated successful business. No one that I know wants to see a business fail. It's bad for the community. Political correctness has bulldozed many successful businesses into places of fear changing them from pleasant, efficient, and friendly operations into contentious hate filled environments. Customers pick up on that immediately regardless of the type of service performed. Hesperiavoter, you have shown where your loyalty lies. You refuse to accept the serious problems created by the self serving, union sponsored mob that has taken over our schools. My conclusion is you are a part of that group. If you are CB everything you post is in line with HTA's mission. If you are not everything you post is in line with HTA's mission. By the way, do us all a favor and show respect for God by capitalizing the word. Even if you don't believe in a deity, showing disrespect weakens your credibility.

Golden State Flooring in Hesperia. Does that make all of you happy now you know who we are? We are giving you our name to tell you we don't like what is going on in our city and I JoAnne Flesher now married to another man am tied of the garbage in our city. I work for my husband. And yes we have a lot of money but it should go to other things than to our kids and to the crooks of this city that cannot do anything right. Now you have our name I really don't care if you come in and buy carpet from us we can sell just fine without you. Our prices speak for themselves. You people need us we do not need you that is the facts, my children are grown and I have better things to do with my money.

Local Consumer, WOW, you got it! Haven't heard from CB and LR yet. Maybe it's because they don't own Hesperia and are not the biggest employers in town. What a shame, for them. A town being totally in debt to the company that supplies most of the jobs is, for the most part, a thing of the past. Commandeering a school district by the nationwide educational unionized teaching community is not new but has now happened in Hesperia. People better wise up. A restaurant business fails when the cooks decide when the food is good and ignores the customers dissatisfaction. Likewise, our educational system will suffer as more educational leaders tell us our kids are educated and prepared for self sustaining independence when we, parents and employers, know they are not. Good administrators are hard to find, and, in some cases, hard to keep. This is of no concern to our present board majority. The takeover by Kirk, Rogers, and Black of our school district has proven to be a dismal failure. We should consider ourselves lucky, I guess, that we don't have to eat their decisions, just pay for them.

LBO, please please please tell me your place of business. I will personally come in with a busload of people and ask you to sign the petitions. I want you to tell each and every one of them to smeg off and deny us your business. We don't need a recall to put you out of business. We don't need to use political bullying like they did to that cinnamon bun lady. All we need is to know who you actually are and where your business is, and start talking. Word of mouth PR in a town as small as this can kill your business faster than you can say Hardy Black scratches my back. Are you afraid of the people like your buddy Kirk is? Don't have a union boss to protect you like he does? Afraid of putting your money and your livelihood at stake by publicly supporting three future out of work ex-board members? I'm guessing you are. I'm guessing you'll never say who you are. I'm guessing you never say what the name of your business is. Because as soon as you do you cannot hide behind some anonymous screen name in a message board.
