Kiwanis Club helps kids for Christmas
For the fourth year in a row, the Hesperia Kiwanis Club did some special shopping to give 11 children Christmas gifts.
On Dec. 15, the club partnered with the Hesperia Walmart Supercenter for its fourth annual Kids Christmas event, according to a Kiwanis Club press release. The club takes children who are in need shopping for essential items such as clothing, shoes and jackets. Once the essential needs have been met, the shopper and child then look for that special toy the child would like to have.
The club was also able to get a special grant allowing them to provide each child with a bicycle as well.
“John Shy, the general manager of the Hesperia Walmart, and all of the other associates were a pleasure to work with,” said Lindsay Woods, Hesperia Kiwanis Club member. “They made this year’s event the best ever and we look forward to working with them again next year.”
There were smiling faces not only on the children but also the Kiwanians who helped shop for the children. Walmart provided light refreshments and even arranged for Santa to make a special appearance at the event.
Meeting the needs of children has been a priority for the Hesperia Kiwanis Club for nearly 50 years. The Kiwanis Club would also like to send out a very special thank you to all of the Topaz Tigers who assisted in making this year’s event such a success.
