Marijuana eradication operation nets $15 million worth of pot
A recent two-week-long marijuana cultivation crackdown operation by county law enforcement resulted in the seizure of a total of 4,416 plants with a street value of more than $15 million, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Narcotic Division/Marijuana Eradication Team.
Two of the six indoor cultivations eradicated in the joint San Bernardino/Los Angeles county effort were located in golf course-area homes in Hesperia.
A total of 11 arrests were made with one suspect still outstanding on a $1 million arrest warrant. Seven firearms -- including several assault-type weapons -- $10,000 cash and one vehicle were seized, according to the County Sheriff Department.
Law authorities believe several of the subjects are tied to Asian organized crime.
