Felon arrested after he allegedly pulls gun on wife
Jesus Chavez, 28, reportedly hid in garage when deputies arrived
A Hesperia man was arrested Tuesday night after he allegedly pointed a handgun at his wife and her brother during a domestic dispute.
Jesus Chavez, 28, was arrested at a residence on the 10700 block of Pinon Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. on Dec. 8.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies had responded to a report of domestic violence. Upon arrival, the deputies were told by Chavez' wife that her husband had pointed a handgun at her and her brother and that Chavez had locked himself inside the garage.
Deputies surrounded the garage, and Chavez exited the garage by a side door, spotted a deputy and then reportedly threw down the gun and took off running through the backyard. Unfortunately for him, deputies were there as well, and he was caught and apprehended.
Chavez was arrested on a charge of being a felon in possession of a weapon and booked at Victor Valley Jail. The handgun recovered by deputies was allegedly stolen during a 2004 Hesperia burglary.
