Motorist leads deputy on foot chase

Staff Writer

When caught driving without a license, Larry Daughterty reportedly made a bad snap decision: He pushed the deputy who had pulled him over, and ran.

Daugherty had been unable to provide San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Deputy Derek Stokes with identification or registration information, and was not a licensed driver.

He then allegedly shoved Stokes and took off running, leading the deputy through various yards and over fences between them. Other deputies joined in the hunt, including a department helicopter.

Daughtery was finally located in a bush near a residence on the 15000 block of Smoke Tree Road. Stokes took him into custody on a charge of resisting an officer. Daughtery allegedly had a small quantity of marijuana on him at the time of his arrest.

He was booked into Victor Valley Jail.
