Non-custodial mother arrested for kidnapping

Rancho Cucamonga woman allegedly took son from grandmother's house

STAFF WRITER

A Rancho Cucamonga woman was arrested for kidnapping after taking her son home Wednesday morning.

Tiffany Smith, 24, does not have custody of her 6 year old son, but was allowed to spend the night and visit with him Tuesday night, at the Ironstone Court home of his grandmother, who has guardianship of the boy.

The boy and his mother were reportedly still sleeping when the grandmother left the house Wednesday morning for approximately two hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., but gone when she returned.

The grandmother called the Hesperia station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, and Rancho Cucamonga deputies located mother and child at her home there.

Smith was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for kidnapping.

The boy was returned to the custody of his grandmother.

Why are men always so negative towards women. Good point Susan.

What a waste product. Lock her up in a cage where she belongs.

Susan, you don't know the background on why this mother lost custody. You assume this mother wasn't treated fairly by the courts and you assume this mother never did anything to have her custody taken away. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe this mother was unfit? Obvisouly she has issues following a simple court order.

Mothers have rights too. Who is out there fighting for mothers rights according to the Olmstead Act? No one cares, and attorney's are worthless unless you have thousands of dollars. Then try to get an honest one. I've never found one, after going through four. My traumatic brain injured son was thrown in a nursing home and left there by his father who illegally obtained guardianship of our 19 yr. old son. He refuses to allow me to see him. I have written to the attorney general and Gov. Perry to no avail. Some one needs to start and organization to help mothers like us.
